Game of Life.

Game of Life. John Conway
Tags? Do they work?

Many years ago I bought a Commodore 64. I acquired a book of programs which contained a program written in BASIC (whose 'basic' one is entitled to ask). The “Game of Life” was in it.

Realistically I felt that to employ its algorithm at its heart, with modifications, would be too complex to address at the moment, especially my moment!

That the concept may or may not have gained me another post is irrelevant.

At the time of this thread the address:
<a href=”http://www.bitstorm.org/gameoflife/”>http://www.bitstorm.org/gameoflife/
offers a java/javascript application.

The DropDown menu offers a set of preset programs.

This may need a little “hacking” to get the feel, but it should be satisfying.

You can even test your own ideas, but read and understand the rules; the rules are simple but the outcomes are often very unexpected.

I created 3 vertical bars of 5 blocks, separated by 3 blank columns somewhere near centre; if I got “centre” wrong my picture was vastly different.

Enjoy.

Give us feedback if you tried.
