tables tag
Time to reconsider tables?
Levik, mentioned about the potential for abuse/issues with the table tag in the HTML forum. Judging by some of the problems we have seen maybe he was more right than we at least I realized. |

Re: tables tag
Without being able discuss this fully with levik I doubt that the abuse/issues to which he refers are what we have been encountering.
Table is a basic fundamental structure embodied in a web page. My sense is that he was expressing some concerns as to the use of attributes which that tag, and other related tags carry. I think he did want to have to be going into a problem to edit poorly constructed HTML.
As for the current 'problems' one issue is related to the failure of IE to adequately embrace the w3.org's standards in CSS and XHTML (XML) technologies. The construction of the code in tables seen here is autocompiled and, other that three areas which we edit, the code is completely out of our hands. Our latest concern seems to have been syntax errors caused when a file was copied from a non-intended source. I don't think we have any real concerns here. |
