I remember this being discussed here in a forum somewhere or another but can't recall where.
It is often presented as three houses needing to be connected to water, gas and electrical service. The object is to make the connection without a service line crossing another.
Sorry, but it can't be done. One trick solution however is to let one service line go under one of the houses but that is usually ruled out when the problem is written. |

Other trick solutions include drawing the circles on a torus (donut) shape or going off the edge of the page and around the back of the paper. |
