Copyright issue
I had an issue raised with me re use of copyright materials on Perplexus.
Some years back a discussion was held around that very subject. At that time I had no grounds to refute the decision made.
I'd appreciate some comment re the article at 10 Myths About Copyright and how they may apply to our usage of materials gleaned from sources not of the author's generation.
Please post general comments here but points for specific reference at Forums\Reference\Copyright.

Re: Copyright issue
I suppose the first thing we need to determine is "Is posting problems/puzzles a form of publishing?" I used to have a job in a Yearbook Editing department. Company policy was that we could not produce a yearbook containing copyrighted material unless that material was a piece of background in a picture (not the subject of the picture). Getting the copyright from the owners was too expensive of a cost for publishing a yearbook. If posting a puzzle on perplexus.info is also a form of publishing, then the site's policy may have to be similar. |
