Fun with a Lipogram

I am a linguist/logologist (I study words). Not long ago I found a lipogram - a story/composition/discussion omitting thing(s). Lipograms using {a, b, c, d, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m ,n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z} can try any linguist. This group is most common (omitting that common thing between d and f). I know a lipogram that sounds natural although it's not using that fifth. This may not, but I am going to try it. All you smart guys - try writing normal, only without that fifth.

Now for a thing to discuss:

How is your climatic condition? Do you pray for rain, or wish for sun? I am hoping for lots of rain . . . my county is hurting for it. A drought is possibly on its way. How about you?

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

The night sky is growing dark, and not a cloud around. Sun is always good, but morning will bring back sun.

How about trying this link?

You may find that it has all you look for!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

You may want to check out "A Void". This massive lipogram is a 26 chapter novel written without the letter 'e'.

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Is that a fact? I think "A Void" was first "La Disparation", but that was all in Parisian (can't say that "F" word), although it was also a lipogram. Translating that - how nightmarish!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Oh, but Silverknight - what is that word that starts your post! I'm afraid that's taboo. Lipograms can try any linguist, so don't worry. You will soon work out long, long lipograms without fudging up. Don't stop trying!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Oops - but I had a goof in my first post - that word should turn into "twixt". I'm supposing that all of us will mistakingly do that!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

What am I saying? I want to say "Carlos's post". Oh no! I'm taking a post and naming it my own? Sorry, Carlos. I play "Risk" too much - I'm in a habit of taking things.

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

I'll try this...

Risk is fun, but any play of it usually lasts too long... I'd say it's usually many hours. Also I'm bad at winning it... My bro always wins.

I think that could sound natural if I took out my dictionary and 'saurus, but I'm too lazy right now. Carlos, your post has SK's log-in in it!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

lol @ Tristan... good point! Carlos, you did a similar thing to my goof, and didn't catch your own slipup.

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Now I'm afraid . . . I think all of us show symptoms of antilipogramitus! I'm apologizing now for any slip-ups I slip. And, Captain Paradox - don't worry. It's not unusual for a guy to claim a thing that isn't his (that is, assuming you go by guy).

I think Risk is cool, but all that rolling is too chancy and anything chancy is 2nd in war to skill. Anybody play "Diplomacy"?

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

This lack of a common monograph is amusing and confounding. It is making my mind spin, and that is not quick to accomplish in any way.

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

I want my login-in alias not to count. It wasn't my fault it had that in it!

I am not too good at talking with only consonants and a, i, o, u, y, so if you find a slip-up in any of my posts, poi

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

My oh my, I must say that you all carry stamina to go forth in Linguist/Logologist Land - with flying colors. I am agog at your grand command of words!

And, You-Who's-Post-Is-Right-Up-From-This, login aliai (is that its plural?) don't count. Look at my login!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

My CPU is doing unknown things with posts that I submit, so that is why it cut off in a word. I will finish what was put down in a short summary.

"...nt it out! I am not as good as authors up from this.

As far as risk goes, I don't contain affinity to programs or boards that contain much luck, though I know much of living contains taking risks."

As for rain, I worry about flooding and crop dying, so not too much is good (though drought is not good in addition)"

Anyway, I am happy that I may stay with the alias I sign in with now.

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Ah! How fun, and also good brain food, to fit words to simply avoid a common symbol! A fitting task of stamina to display still continuing thoughts without that all too common monograph.

I fail to find what irks you all in this forum. It all looks astoundingly easy ...*dang*... Uhh... difficult!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

I concur, Popstar David. It all is astoundingly simplistic. Although SK, Brian Smith, and Carlos (that is I) all typo now and again. I think your goof was voluntary, Popstar, so don't worry. But, again, it is astoundingly simplistic. All us guys only do it to look smart and intimidating to anybody who sashays along.

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

This topic's discussion's wording is starting to look similar to the kind of wording used in that puzzling submission of Popstar's, in which a bunch of common sayings got put into a confusing form.

Oh no! I should omit that word right of "wording" (not "is")! Dang!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Right now as our posts total four plus four plus four plus four plus four, I wish to award a bunch (sadly not) of guys who's posts I could not find a taboo monograph in: Brian Smith, Captain Paradox, Cloudy-Avatar Boy (I can't say your log-in alias) and, as your slip-up was voluntary, Popstar David.

Kudos to all of you!

Re: Fun with a Lipogram

Right, Carlos. My slip was voluntary. So I say...
"Pi (round down to a unit) salutations for all of us...
Hip, hip... hooray! Hip, hip... hooray! Hip, hip... hooray!"
Bring a round of bubbly, sparkling, alcoholic, drinks for us who didn't put into play that most worrying of symbols, our pal, that third in a musical gap up from C major, or that point from which the natural plan of logarithms starts, having an amount of approx. 2.71828!

Yes, avioding x ( 1 = ln x) is truly a topic to party about! Party party party! This post also contains an additional topic to discuss -- how should such partying occur?

Also, I thought, and had a conclusion that only just 1 = ln (x) wasn't logical, so I put in that word to clarify things. Don't hurt this boy for doing so!

G-man, how 'bout using "x (for 1 = ln x)"? This conforms with instructions laid out upon arrival in this forum...

So how would our disccusion look if our group drop dual symbols? I say our group should also drop a symbol by 's' and 'u'. Sounds fun, no?

Continuation: Fun with a Lipogram

I concur, this is bloody fun, though now, who post in this lipograph discussion must contain archaic words and kind of grammatically/uncomfotably wrong groups of words. Still, I must concur that x(1=ln x) is so common in this British, that almost all words contain x(1=ln x), such as a synonym for British contains our traitor. I shall also say that who posts in this discussion forgot about all tags for all posts contain x(1=ln x). Thus, this must contain a transmutation to Continuation: Fun with a Lipogram. I also concur that who posts in this discussion shall drop things that commonly occur also.
