Re: relationship between numbers

You aren't supposed to post puzzles in the forum at this site, because all the puzzles should be gathered in the archive, where people know where they are. Posting a puzzle in the forum makes it a problem to submit it normally, which is unfortunate, because this isn't a bad puzzle.

I figured out the answer, but instead of posting it here, I'll e-mail it to you.

Re: relationship between numbers

Tristan,

I know that I am very new to this site. I have reviewed many of your postings. You are very bright, so I don't understand why you would give ben the answer(not that I know it). It's pretty obvious to me that ben is trying to either cheat at something, too lazy to do his homework, or trying to impress someone with his fake reasoning power. If you know the solution, just post it so others can take a crack at it under site rules. If I knew the solution, I would submit it. Submitting a puzzle is not like stealing an answer.

Re: relationship between numbers

I think the general rule for puzzles in forums is that if you want an answer, it's best to post a way of contact rather than the puzzle itself. Once the puzzle is already posted though, there's not much you can do. I don't think refusing to answer will discourage very much, because the people who post puzzles generally haven't looked at the site enough to know whether they will be refused.

I don't think that everyone asks for puzzle answers just for one of the reasons you gave. Sometimes, people just can't get a puzzle off their mind without solving it. This is very unfortunate when it comes to impossible puzzles such as the brick puzzle or the incorrectly stated -gry puzzle.

I suppose that I'm in the best position to submit this puzzle, but its being in the forums makes it slightly awkward. It won't hurt to try, though. People won't remember 5 months from now.

Re: relationship between numbers

I agree with every thing you said. The only difference is that I was not referring to people in general. I was referring specifically to this person. Perhaps "pretty obvious" were not the best words to use. I supposed I'm biased based on my past experience. "plz answer this and define please" is quite different from "this puzzle is driving me crazy". That's just my take on it and certainly not any type of condemnation of your actions. I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion about ben, but I doubt it.

I would like for you to submit this puzzle because I too would like to know the connection. I want to tell you my thoughts on this puzzle, but of course I can not or at least, not here.
