Please help with a math puzzle
I got this from a friend but am having no luck solving it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :)
2 + 2 = 4
4 + 4 = 8
142 + 468 = 621
3762 + 8271 = ?

The sums appear to be done in radix 9, so the last line would be 13143.
From right to left:
2+1=3, - in radix 9, that's 3, no carry
6+7=13 - in radix 9, that's 4, carry 1
7+2+1=10 - in radix 9, that's 1, carry 1
3+8+1=12 - in radix 9, that's 3, carry 1, and thus 13143)
