stuck on a problem..
i have a few problems that seem impossible..maybe someone will have the smarts to figure them out..very tough stuff..
solve for y: y^4-4y^2=40y-10y^3
has 4 solutions to choose from
a. 0,10,2,-2
b.0,-10,-2,4
c.0,-10,2,-2
d.0,10,-2,-4
take your best shot.. |

Re: stuck on a problem..
Why don't you plug that into excel? |

Re: stuck on a problem..
Also, you can see that 0 and -2 are a choice in all of them. So you don't really have to check those. Instead, just check if it's + or - 10, and + or - 4. |

Re: stuck on a problem..
To continue with nikki's idea, it appears the point of the problem is for you to use polynomial division. Divide out y and y+2 to get a quadratic equation. |

Re: stuck on a problem..
so the answer looks closer to being a? |
