Perplexing JC

It has come to my mind that the JC Problem which many of us are failing to address is that of ESL. However, though that may be a part of the problem, I am not so naive as to believe that it is the major part of the problem.

For ESP (English Second Language) people, where I have used idiom, I have addressed it (I trust).

JC is raising issues of 'collegiate' problem solver abuse when posting comments.

Those of us whose native tongue is English rarely will reflect about what they are about to say or write. Rarely do we consider that "the need to walk on egshells" (be diplomatic). And then, we may be "like a bull at a gate" (rush into things without thought) and post a solution without proper thought, or carelessly post what could be seen as an unnecessary attack. Sometimes there will be remarks that are deliberately 'naughty' but they are in jest.

Those of us who have a full command of the spoken and written English language recognise the subliminal tone of these remarks and are "not thin skinned" (we tolerate).

Though this may give JC some understanding as to what he has seen, it does not excuse his overall general behaviour. He has been wide open to misrepresentation (twice at least with regards to me)and total disregard for Chatterbox requests (often having to be as downright arrogant as him)to comply with the general latitude that this Community likes to enjoy.

I invite JC, and any others to air their displeasures here, within Forums.

Re: Perplexing JC

brianjn, I applaude your attempt, but I expect it to fail. We have tried on several occations to explain things to JC. When he misunderstands and gets angry, we try to clarify and he continues to twist things around and gets angrier still.

He only hears what he wants to hear. Many people have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt early on, tried to teach him the culture of this community so he could fit in, but instead of learning he gets angry. I for one am tired of walking on eggshells to try to help him learn so he can feel welcome.

A little while ago I made it abundantly clear how I felt about the situation. Now I choose to ignore him. I choose to pretend he is not here and go back to the pleasant happy status of this site. I choose not to give him my attention anymore, positive or negative. I hope to show that the community of the site is not the problem. We cohabitate nicely, and he is the one bringing the unpleasantness to this site.

Pat: I'm not sure if laissez-faire will work here. Remember what happened when Europe ignored Hitler's land-grubbing . . .

OK! Let the 'think tank' expand.

At last the penny has dropped! Hang on, that's not a reference to you Penny.
Anyway, JC seems to be behaving in the Chatterbox. Yesterday he only wrote about 4 lines. That was less than me. I'd better keep an eye out for a forum on my excessive use.

Re: Perplexing JC

Reasonable, modest input will surely be tolerated, even though many will choose to treat it with ignore. 'Course, there will be others who will not quite so readily notice a sharp decline in postings and attacks will continue. Unfortunately it is a reflection upon: "What ye sew, then ye shal reap"; or words to that effect.

Re: Perplexing JC

Nosher, unless you start talking about puzzle organizations that compete with each other, or the superiority or inferiority of puzzle builders and solvers, we may bear you! ;-)

PS. Talking with yourself in the chatterbox may disqualify you from such bearing (bearance?)

I would be worried about references also various species of such an animal! Especially Koala .... which though named, is not one!

I would say there's nothing we can do to communicate with him, but if he's behaving there's not a reason to remove him.
