Crimson room

Have u tried to escape from the crimson room? Its a flash game I think will appeal to lots of users of this site. Also the veridian room and the blue chamber are worth a go. I'd love to create my own version and can do the graphics and have loads of ideas for puzzles but need someone to help with the programing (ie. do it all) if anyone fancies it? Let me know too if u know of any similar puzzles...

Re: Crimson room

Where would one find this?

Re: Crimson room

Percy - If you go to this link you will find a very good game similar to the crimson room but longer (and it's not impossible like finding the phone number for the blue chamber).

Re: Crimson room

Wow brianjn, you and I were posting our forum things at the same time! When I was typing there was only one post on this thread! What are the chances ... anyway, if you go this link you can find the Crimson Room.

Re: Crimson room

Thanks, I found it at that site. Got some of the things, got stuck, restarted but could NOT get back to the battery! If it means that I have to find things in some specific order, forget it. And I don't see any real value in paying out my hard earned yen for what appears to be a trivial pastime; I am not dismissing it because I didn't get there, if there is an order, it should be made apparent, and guidance given.

But then I haven't really found and Flash games that suit me.

Re: Crimson room

I puzzle that I liked that's vaguely like crimson room, in that you need to solve specific things in a specific order, with no idea what on earth you're doing, is Hapland at http://www.addictinggames.com/hapland.html. I haven't solved Hapland II yet.

Crimson room I thoiught was ok, but a little too focused on, say, having to click precisely those five pixels making up a corner of something. It seemed a little arbitrary.

Was Mystery of Time and Space the one with a bunch of codes you had to decrypt and stuff? I think I enjoyed it - don't think I finished it though...

Re: Crimson room

I enjoyed all of these games, and I've always wished there were more of these adventure type free flash games. There have been times in the past, where I've searched free game sites (there must be thousands of these), but the games that count as puzzles are usually quite dull, not really what I'd call puzzles.

This thread has listed just about every good free adventure flash I found. There's Crimson room, as well as Viridian room and Blue chamber on http://www.fasco-csc.com/. MOTAS was easier, but longer. Hapland, I really enjoyed. I didn't know there was a Hapland II... I'll look into that.

I once found The doors, a game similar to and probably inspired by Crimson room. There were also two other games that I'd like to link, but I don't even remember their names. I'll get to re-finding them.

Re: Crimson room

On second thought, maybe not. My chances of ever finding them are probably worse than my chances of finding a better game.

Re: Crimson room

I tried playing Hapland for about an hour and got the hang of a lot of things except am unsure how to get rid of the land mine.

I like these types of games but feel most of them are illogical in how they work.

Re: Crimson room

I so got the Doors without any help! (Even though I wanted to ask 3 times!)

One problem with The Doors is you could access some things in one view you couldn't in another. It was a fun flash adventure though. The idea of it was great, especially the side view showing you what you needed -- that was awesome. I liked the room 5 puzzle the best.

Re: Crimson room

I believe I've found both the games I was thinking of.
Chasm is a little adventure with myst-type puzzles.
Droom is very similar to crimson room, but unfortunately requires a plug-in of some sort, and I just hate to have to download anything.
While I'm listing free adventure games that are found on-line, I might as well add "Peasant's Quest", a parody text-based adventure from homestarrunner.com. I thought it was hilarious.

Re: Crimson room

Indeed, I enjoyed chasm, but didn't finish it. I think I finished The Doors, got all five pieces of the letter, but nothing happened even when clicking on the fragments. I looked up a walkthrough and it just said to click on the fragments, so I guess it was a bug. It did seem very inconsistant about when clicking on an object would have an effect - click on it eight times and nothing, but on the ninth it shows you the object.

Re: Crimson room

I clicked the final piece of the note and I think it assembled for me or I assembled them myself by dragging them onto the screen or something like that.

I didn't have clicking problems, but you had to click on the handle (too small for a click trigger) for it to open.

I liked a lot of the things in the text adventure, but I have a trinket/shirt/rocks and used the chicken feed, what do I do now? The problem with text adventures is there are a lot of words possible and you don't know which ones to use.

Re: Crimson room

Sorry not to post to my own thread sooner, bn busy solving puzzles and writing a few too, not to mention talking a load of digested grass from a bovines... Anyway thanx a load for the links.
I really like the design of chasm and hapland, n the Peasants Quest seems fun though I havn't got far. While these games are not always logical they provide a nice diversion after a hard days problem solving.

I do believe I've just hit the jackpot of online adventure games. I was procrastinating by randomly searching the internet, as I often do, and here's what I found: click

Still hungover? Flash games are the best cure, here's a nice selection. I recommend marathon and plumber for those who have regained their powers of thought.

(I've been trying to come up with a pencil and paper game like plumber for a while, something in the vain of Japanese logic puzzles [eg. slitherlink], any ideas?)
(wish I could do that click here thing. Can someone help me with that please?)
