weighing stuff

a bricklayer has 8 bricks. Seven of the bricks weight the same ammount and one is a little heavier than the others. If the bricklayer has a balance scale, how can they find the heaviest brick in ONLY two weighings.

I've got it down to three weighings, but that's it. Can someone point me in the right direction? I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: weighing stuff

Nick, this is not the place to post your puzzles. Please read the FAQ and follow the advice there.

And as likely, either the puzzles which you are currently posting are already here, or there is something very like them.

If you have a puzzle that you think is good, submit it and the committee of members will authorise its publication if it passes the scrutiny.

Re: weighing stuff

Your last post said that that was the last question.

And this question is already posted on the site (in a different context).

Re: weighing stuff

You haven't submitted any problems, rated any problems, or even commented on any problems. The point of this site is not the forums, but the problems.
