Penny!! Lovely girl.

No! Not sniping. Just trying to advertise!

Groundhogs and Shadows!

We don't have those critters. Probably just as well. Should one poke its snout (note the political correctness of the gender) out over here at the moment, its delicate tip would be quite profusely sunburnt, would not see its shadow but would wait out its period anyway before resurfacing.

Effect of translocating the Critter
We are just going out of a "heat wave". Seems to be something of a weather record for Australia - but it appears to be consitent with elements of the "global warming debate".

Just trying to think! Groundhogs? Spring!
NO. Wouldn't work. Get one that's hibernating, put it in cool storage, bring it here, install it in a replicated burrow ..
.... and ...
... let Nature wake 'him' up in haste.

With any luck, its seen the shadow, or been sunburnt so our seasonal temps have gone back a few degrees.

THAT IT BE SO!

Re: Locations

We've had some terrible forest fires here lately. Because of our environment we know and expect that they are always going to be naturally present. Focus: Nature.

We have suffered Earthquake (Sydney - Year ????)
We have suffered and continue to suffer cyclones (tornadoes/twisters/hurricanes same thing, OK, we have a debate about clocks CW or A-CW - argue about that? Well try CCW!)

OK LET'S TAKE STOCK OF MY STANCE
All too often someone applies a 'label' like 'It's always bigger in Texas'!
Unfortunately in such circumstances it probably is, or maybe a close neighbour like Louisiana or Florida.

Penny, we need a GM Groundhog - got to sense incoming weather.

Re: Locations - seriously

Some of us really take our habitat/environs too much for granted.
[Those who inhabit forestry fringes must take account, and are encouraged to
plan for potential fires - flooding sometimes]
Some of us plan to live in environments which are considered high risk in terms of Nature.
Some of us (tsunami victims) know no other place to be.

International Media unfortunately does not bring due focus to the World of places experiencing disasters.

Add to this as you wish.

Tell me where the World press has featured the forest fires around Victoria, Aust., over the last few weeks.

Unless,
Unless there is a "capital" reason to put you on the map, media looks after its own interests.

Ooh! Some of us believe that we are the worst served in the World (We are! Disprove me!!!)

Re: Locations

Mate, not only did we get the press coverage over here in Adelaide but we smelled the smoke.
We have had fires here too - bad ones on Kangaroo Island. Fortunately no loss of life.
