But the answer is fairly simple. It has to do with one of the cards moving slightly so you are more inclined to pick it ... |

Found that one elsewhere quite some time ago; yes, it is quite neat.
But here's another one to try. It is also rather simple in its mechanism, but there is a random generator at work that makes it a little more difficult to figure;
