Re-ordering your puzzle queue

A number of times i have written a puzzle, and then followed it with a similar one, I do not think this a problem in itself but i'd like to be able to put some distance between puzzles where the way to the answer is similar.

My idea is this, I suggest being able to change puzzles around in your personal queue, or being able to insert puzzles into the personal queue at any position.
Also as an extra could it be made possible to see the queue position from the Problem Pending menu.

Re: Re-ordering your puzzle queue

I agree that it might be nice to have a function that swaps two of one's own problems, provided that they haven't yet entered the "top-10" queue.

I think once one is an apprentice (would someone verify this?), one can change the title and text of one's problems in the queue. Therefore, one can, in a roundabout manner, swap two of one's problems.

As for submitting puzzles where the method of solving is similar, if not identical, I would suggest you avoid it. There are certainly a few examples of similar problems on the site, but this is the number one reason why problems are rejected--namely that the manner of solution (if not the whole problem) duplicates a problem already existing on this site.

Re: Re-ordering your puzzle queue

I believe students can edit puzzles' text, titles, and difficulty. Students can't edit category without bugging Levik until they are apprentices.

I do verify SK's statement that duplicity is the number one reason for rejection. Gamer often suggests putting them together, but it doesn't always work quite right.

We could add the queue position in the problem pending menu, but truthfully, the queue position isn't the most accurate way to determine the time left before it reaches the top ten, because of the QW system. This has been discussed.

Re: Re-ordering your puzzle queue

I was thinking about that, but that would be a step closer to just submitting "filler" problems. Such problems would be boring 1/5 or 2/5 problems that look real but are really just there so you can put your problems in when you feel like it. I don't know if anyone has done it in the past, but it certainly could happen in the future.

As for inserting problems, replacing your own is fine if used not too often. You can't insert problems into the queue though.

Also, concept duplicates are a major feature here. If the way of solving a problem is already on the site, we won't usually post the problem. Also, please make sure that your problem isn't already on the site. We have had a few cases where we were pretty sure the person hadn't checked.
