"by hand" solutions- synonym
I am completely drawing a blank here. I have a problem in queue in which I want to limit computer aided and internet search solutions. I am completely drawing a blank on the phrase I am searching for. Basically I am looking for "pen and paper" or "by hand" solutions, but those are not the terms I am looking for. I may figure it out by the time someone responds to this, but it is driving me crazy. I am searching problem comments because it is often used in the comments, but I am not finding it yet. I am going to kick myself when I figure it out. |

Firstly this would be more appropriate in Commons or General Discussion.
That said, without seeing the problem it is somewhat difficult to suggest a solution for you. However I am making a reasoned assumption that you are looking for a solution whereby you are wanting to ask, "How would you reason the solution to 'abc...' ...? |

You might be right on the placement.
I think you are misunderstanding what I am looking for though. In my problem, I am soliciting "by hand" or "pen and paper" solutions. I do not want computer program solutions. What is the term that I use for that type of solution. Someone might say computer assisted solution whereas someone else might say Well, my solution is..?
Sorry that is probably more confusing. |

Actually I think the term I am referring to, actually refers to the method of solving the problem rather than the type of solution. I am still not thinking of the word though. |
