solve this

A skating champion moves along the circumference of a circle of radius 21 meters in 44 seconds. How many seconds will it take her to move along the perimeter of a hexagon of side 42 meters?

Re: solve this

Do you have to include the time it takes for her to get to the circle and hexagon. Also, it would matter which one she did first, because her skates would be warmer. However, that might be cancelled out by her getting fatigued later on in the course. That might be balanced out by her getting practice earlier in the course.

Re: solve this

And have you gone to the FAQ and read that carefully. We have a procedure there for the way that puzzles should be posted on this site.

Re: solve this

What type of skating champion? If it is an ice-dancer or figure skater there are required components to complete which will affect the overall time.
And if it is a roller-skating champion ...

Re: solve this

distance travelled by her= 2*pi*21
time=44sec
speed= dist/time= 3m/sec
on hexagon dist travelled= 42*6
so time = dist/speed=84sec= 1 hour, 24sec

Re: solve this

kumar sharma,
your presence is most welcomed here,

but please go to the FAQ link, above the Chatterbox

as to how we accept problems that you want us to address.

As for the problem you pose, I don't know - seems like you have a female cyclist around the circular area but want someone to decide what her time would be if the track was hexagonal (taking all theory into account).

Look, read the FAQ info.

If you want to come back with this, use that advice. Note too, that the likelihood if it passes our panel, it could be, under the current queue of problems 'in-waiting', about 2 months before official posting.

I am seriously thinking however that you attempt to search for similarilies of what is on site and, if you have something similar, try to put a different slant on your problem. It might give you more chance.
