Trust us, if you've come here in the right spirit, to solve puzzles or even add some of your own, then you shouldn't be disappointed. Good idea to try to check that nothing too similar already exists here; the view here is, while developing a large collection of puzzles, variety is considered important.

That said, Welcome aboard.

Hi Nick and Trevor. Welcome to Perplexus.
Yes, Trevor there are super smart people here - but most of us are just average (or even less) That's the great thing about this site. It caters for such a wide range of people. Enjoy solving the problems that you can and I am sure like all of us your skills will improve. And don't worry about any lack of "formal" maths training - a lot of the problems need you to think "outside of the normal" and regular thinking is not useful - or even a hinderance - the Riddles and Tricks areas spring to mind!!
Enjoy the Perplexus experience.

Trevor, I looked at the water displacement one with the view to looking at it closely myself. I've made some comments back in the puzzle area which might help. Check out what anyone else may say also.

Re: Hows it going? I'm new!

There are also great problems like Lucky Numbers which are hard but don't require knowledge of advanced fomulas or theoroms, so that is nice.

There are also a number of variety problems which don't require math (just a sample would include The last place http://perplexus.info/show.php?pid=914 ,A Pronounced Day http://perplexus.info/show.php?pid=1442 ,Sled Shiver Sally http://perplexus.info/show.php?pid=974 ,Don't touch! http://perplexus.info/show.php?pid=1324 and The Hundred Squares http://perplexus.info/show.php?pid=1445 )

There are also some great cryptography problems
