Substitute digits for letters (different letters, different digits; same letters, same digits) so
ALPHABET + LETTERS = SCRABBLE. No number begins with zero.

You say "Since B+E=B, E could only be zero" but that's wrong -- E could
be a 9, and you could carry one from the previous column. You got a
solution, but unless you prove that E=9 doesn't lead to an answer, your
conclusions aren't right.
