If a 7-11 store is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, then why are there locks on the doors?

is it a jail/prison ??????......the rooms in which the prisoners are kept are always locked but still open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.......i hope everybody understands how I am saying that the doors are both open and closed at the same time..........
