Noughts and Crosses (Posted on 2004-09-16) Difficulty: 3 of 5
This game starts with some noughts and some crosses. You and your opponent take turns removing two shapes, and adding a new one according to this rule: if the shapes are identical, add a nought; otherwise, add a cross. When only one shape remains, you win if it's a nought, and lose if it's a cross.

Is there a winning strategy for any of the players? How should you play?

oo, xx leave an o. ox leave an x is really the same as either taking 2 X's and adding an O, or just taking an O.

So using this as your choice the only option for x's is to take 2 at a time, since when u take OX, your adding the X back again.

So if there is a odd amount of X's, the last move will have to take the remaining X and lose.An Odd number of pieces (X and O) on your turn means you will Lose. Even will win.

Since you can't really add an X if there are even X's at the start the last piece has to be a O, which is a win. An odd number of pieces (X and O) on your turn means you will win. Even will lose.

if the number of X's(Crosses) are odd, and so is the total amount of pieces, or X's are even, and total amount is even, then let the other player go. Otherwise you go.
