A man parked in a supermarket car park and walked towards the shop. On his way he noticed something wrong with the numbering of the individual spaces. Neighbouring spaces had the numbers 88, 68, 06 and 16 painted on the floor next to them, when they should have been consecutive numbers. Why was this?

He's looking at the numbers in the wrong way. If he had gone around and looked at the numbers from the other side, he would've seen 91, 90, 89, and 88.
