Call the year Y and the three ages A, B, and C. Then Y-A=B*C, Y-B=A*C and Y-C=B*A. Solving these equations yields A=B=C and Y=A^2+A. If A=43 then Y=1849. If A=44 then Y=1936. If A=45 then Y=2025. 1936 is the most recent year before today (2003). Solution: They were all 44 and the party took place in 1980.
