Three Block Quickie (Posted on 2016-01-11) Difficulty: 1 of 5
I have three blocks. Two of them are the same weight. The third is a different but unknown weight (it could be heavier or lighter).

Using a balance scale at most two times find the odd block.

Call the blocks A, B and C. Weigh A vs B and A vs C. If either weighing is equal then the odd block is the one appearing only in the unequal weighing, either B or C depending on which weighing was unequal. If both weighings are unequal then A is the odd block.
