An anamonic is a form of mnemonic device frequently employed by tournament Scrabble players (the word anamonic is itself a portmanteau of anagram and mnemonic ).
It consists of a six or seven letter "stem" (often, but not always, an acceptable word itself), paired with a phrase in which each letter can be added to the stem and rearranged (anagrammed) to form a new word.

TSUNAMI+H = HUMANIST

A successful anamonic (as in the above example) will typically have a phrase with some memorable semantic relationship to the stem.

(North American English [TWL06] eliminates the words permitted by the letters of MAW, thus would require a different anamonic. This may not be true with later versions of the TWL, and the given anamonic may not be valid for the latest or later versions of the CSW.)
