Biting the Apple (Posted on 2016-09-21) Difficulty: 1 of 5
The magician starts his act by taking a bite out of an apple. He then delivers some patter, and shows what apparently is the bite he had taken. After some more patter, he shows that what was thought to have been the bite that he was showing was really just a sticker with a picture of a bite, which he proceeded to peel off, leaving an apparently pristine apple.

He walks across the stage and places this apple on a pedestal on a table. He then proceeds to do a few more tricks in his act. Finally he walks over to that apple, showing that the bite has reappeared. He takes the apple off its pedestal and hands it to someone to evaluate that it is indeed a real bite taken out of the apple.

How was it done?

The apple started out with a sticker on it that appears to be a bite, but of course, isn't. Initially the sticker side is in the palm of his hand while he takes the bite. During his patter he turns the apple so the real bite is now palmed, so he can hold up the sticker side and peal the sticker off.

The pedestal upon which he places the apple (with the now pristine side showing) rotates at a rate designed to go through 180° during the time it takes to do the rest of his tricks, so when he goes back to get it, the truly bit side is facing the audience. Since it really is a bite, it can be examined by the audience member.
