How can you assemble six 1 × 2 × 2 blocks and three 1 × 1 × 1 blocks into a 3 × 3 × 3 cube?

My source and a hint | Comment 1 of 5
I have a version of this puzzle I found in a market in Salvador, Brazil a few years ago.  It is made of fine particle board material and based in centimeter cubes.  There is a sticker on the front that translates to something along the lines of "For your mind."  I can't seem to find it but I remember the solution because it is interesting.

I won't give away the solution, but here is a hint:  One of the 1x1x1 blocks is in the very center, the other two only touch this one at a corner.
