Explain your p&p method of finding two integers, their squares sum being 685.
You may not use algebraic formulae, calculator or Google.

Correct thinking-  you check whether 685-n^2 is a square, n from 1 to 18 ; could be done without pen and paper.

WHY 18?   Because 19^2 *2>685
Even quicker, if you start with  n=26 and go down  to n=19!
