Closer to your roots (Posted on 2019-03-28) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Consider the polynomial f(x) = x7 - 4x3 + x + 1. All the zeroes of the above polynomial are plotted in the complex plane i.e., the argand plane. How many are within a unit distance from the origin?

Solution from Wolfram Alpha Comment 1 of 1
Among the zeroes of the function Wolfram Alpha lists the following three that are within one unit of the origin:

x ~= 0.792062

x ~= -0.377268 - 0.425477 i

x ~= -0.377268 + 0.425477 i
