An enjoyable argument - Thank you.

My point is this: while you remind us that 0.999...  does indeed equals 1, and similarly for -1, my reply is this: There is only one unique real number that is -1. One may represent it with as many different nomenclatures as one wishes. But, to multiply this number by its reciprocal to produce the product under discussion is to count it twice. This is not allowed. Counted once (as it is unique) makes the product = -1.
