Let x=CE. Express area(ABCD)/area(DEFG) in terms of x.

Suppose you double all of the sides. Then, x will double. Also, Area(ABCD) and Area(DEFG) will both multiply by 4, so Area(ABCD)/Area(DEFG) will be the same. Therefore, Area(ABCD)/Area(DEFG) cannot involve x. It seems that the ratio is always 1.
