Wow, that blows my mind. I was thinking that the number is equal to the difference between the number above and the number to the left. For example, 18 = 45 - 27. In this case, the answer would be 15, and the "21" would be a typo and should say "20" instead.


I think that it's worth pointing out that the 21 is *not* a mistake. Otherwise one is liable to think they've found the answer, when actually Ady's answer is the right one. Great puzzle!
