Question Does the puzzle have an error? (spoiler) Comment 1 of 1
I think that harder #1 is JANE EYRE

And I think harder #2 is ULYSSES

That would make warm-up #1 SUSURRUS, which is a word.

But that would make hard #3 ?RAN?S?E?N
That looks tantalizingly like FRANKENSTEIN, but FRANKENSTEIN has 12 letters and Hard #3 only has 10.

Is there any chance that the puzzle contains an error, or am I just a bad guesser?

Ignoring harder clue #3,
that makes WARM-UP #1 SUN?RY ?RU?S
       and WARM-UP #3 UNSUN? ?UR?URS

If #3 is UNSUNG MURMURS
Then #2 is SUNDRY DRUMS (what does that mean?)

And the rigid conventional propriety symbol is MRS GRUNDY from Archie comics.
