Horse Race (Posted on 2004-01-19) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Five horses - 'FIRST', 'SECOND', 'THIRD', 'FOURTH' and 'FIFTH' ran in the race. (There were no ties.)
'FIRST' did not come first.
'SECOND' was neither first nor last.
'THIRD' came in one place after 'FIRST'.
'FOURTH' was not second.
'FIFTH' was two places below 'FOURTH'.
In what order did the horses finish?

basically this can get confusing. to start out fourth did not come in second making him eligable for first. then first did not come in first as stated so he's not eligable. second wasn't first or last so he's also not eligable. third came one place after first making him second for sure. And fifth could also not come in first because it states that he came two places after first making him third.so the only eligable person for first is fourth. then third came in second as stated. then fifth as stated. this is where the logic comes in since second could not be last as it stated that means that he came in fourth. and last first is last by process of elimination.

order

Fourth, Third, Fifth, Second, First. tada
