ABC is a triangle:
  • Angle A < 90.
  • D is a point on BC such that BD = DC.
  • M is a point on BC such that AM is perpendicular to BC.

    If
  • AD = 10,
  • BC = 12 and
  • MC = 11
    find the length of AC.

    To tell you the truth, this problem was very easy. Using CD+BD=2*CD=2*BD=12, CD=BD=6. 11-CD=11-6=5=MD. AM²2=100-MD²=100-25=75. AC²=11²+AM²=121+75=196, so AC=√196=14
