Fraction Frustration (Posted on 2004-03-24) Difficulty: 3 of 5
One third of twelve if you divide
By just one fifth of seven,
The true result (correctly tried)
Exactly is eleven.

How is this possible?

the wording is kinda funky but if you look at it this way...

twelve has 6 letters

1/3 of that is 2 letters

if you take the middle 2- E & L

and add it to seven minus the S (1/5 of the word)

it equals eleven.
