Who's the odd one out? (Posted on 2004-04-10) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Of the words listed below, one is "odd man out." This has nothing to do with the number of vowels, consonants or syllables. Can you find the misfit?

LUMP REAM SAGA PALM

Some Thoughts An odd way to look at it. | Comment 3 of 39 |

"odd man out"       REAM

If the letters are converted to numbers, and the numbers added for each word, only REAM sums to an odd number, the other three words sum to an even number:

LUMP 12+21+13+16 = 62

REAM 16+5+1+13 = 35

SAGA 19+1+7+1 = 28

PALM 16+1+12+13 = 42
