I think Halie's way could certainly be right, if the context is a "trick" type problem.  Certainly as good as my "trick" answer.  But since this problem was posted as a "general" problem, I suspect the author is not looking for a trick solution,  and that Charlie's and Elisabeth's answers are correct, IMHO.  But what the heck, it's all for fun so why not?    Hey, wait a minute ...  the "General" category also includes "Tricks" as a subcategory.  So maybe trick solutions are valid here.
