Each of the ten five-letter words listed below is encrypted with the same substitution code. Following each encrypted word is a clue telling what one of the letters of the word is. What are the ten words?

DVXFM - one letter is R
XBBVJ - one letter is L
JMXFW - one letter is N
DFXBM - one letter is P
BXBMF - one letter is A
BXWMV - one letter is E
QVXWD - one letter is G
HFXWM - one letter is C
HVXQB - one letter is S
BMWWJ - one letter is Y

The only noteworthy thing about this software solution is the speed of execution: 24 seconds flat (almost as good as Frederico's 0.01 second... NOT) to exhaust all possibilities in my 354,508 word wordlist.
 
There is only one solution. The ten words are: glare, apply, yearn, grape, paper, panel, slang, crane, clasp, and penny (???)
 
The letter substitutions are:
    a --> x; c --> h;  e --> m; g --> d; l --> v; n --> w;
    p --> b; r --> f; s --> q; y --> j
