Sequence of Musical Tones (Posted on 2004-12-14) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Music on the planet Alpha Lyra IV consists of only two notes, called A and B. Also, songs never include three consecutive repetitions of any sequence nor does BB ever occur. A sequence of notes can have 1 or more notes in it.

What is the longest song on Alpha Lyra IV?

When C is introduced, even if BB, CC, CB and BC are all disallowed, it still seems infinite.

In the case of the first song being built, it's as if there are only two possible notes, B and C, but separated by A's, so that you can have up to two repetitions of each, such as ABABACACA, etc., so even without the A's, except as spacers, you've removed the restriction that one member can't be repeated at all.
