Circle perimeters (Posted on 2002-11-19) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Prove that the sum of the perimeters of the smaller circles in the Bigger circle is equal to that of the bigger circle. (The centres are on the line given which is the diameter of the bigger circle.)

the perimeter of the larger circle is: pi x diameter

the perimeters of the smaller circles are the same formula.

since there is no squaring involved, the sum of the small circles' perimeters are equal to the large circle's perimeter.

just as 6 x 3 = 18, or (2 x 3) + (4 x 3) = 18.

sloppy proof but it works, dammit.
