Circle perimeters (Posted on 2002-11-19) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Prove that the sum of the perimeters of the smaller circles in the Bigger circle is equal to that of the bigger circle. (The centres are on the line given which is the diameter of the bigger circle.)

The circumference of a circle is 2πr. The only part of that equation that depends on the size is the r (radius). Obviously, the length of the radius of the smaller circles will be half the length of the straight line, which is also the length of the big circles radius. So using the formula the sum of the perimetres is equal.
