I was at the hospital waiting for my little cousin to be born. I began talking to another couple. The husband said " My wife just gave birth to 2 babies. They are not twins."

Confused, I said "Huh?".

"Yes" he said, "They were both born today within minutes of each other."

I assumed that they must have been born in different years but he assured me that this was not so. I figured out what the deal is with these babies. Can you?

this riddle is a mess up because u just said that she gave birth to 2 babies and they are not twins right......so how could the answer be that the babies have a sister or brother(triplets etc...) then she would have gave birth to 3 babies, not 2 for them to be triplets so the answer is wrong or u messed up the riddle.
