With my Power (Posted on 2005-04-29) Difficulty: 3 of 5
With my power I stop bread's spread,
I am even that on which you tread,
Flip me over and you shall sing,
Fervid praises fit for a king.

I was thinking more of 'edge' then I got to the last line and got stuck.

The edge, like the crust, stops bread and you can walk on an edge. And if you flip edge over you get "geed". (Gee: used as a direction to turn to the right or move ahead, compare.)

That's as far as I got. Don't know what it has to do with singing though. I tried also taking the anagrams of some of the other words in the riddle as that was the only "flip" I could think of but nothing pops for me :(
