Is there a limit to the number of times in a row a digit can appear?

Phi, I concur.

I saw a Fibonacci connection which failed.  I lined up my digits across a row of Excel cells and relooked at the digits.  What may not be immediately obvious is that only single digits are added.  When the sum becomes 2 digits, these are recorded as single digits at the growing end of the sequence.  Note  too,  that Phi's series of 4  1's conveniently comes just at the end of Jer's sequence (naughty). 

Phi once I realised the 4 *  1's, I knew that I had gotten there.  I also realised that I would get no more that 4 ones in a row, but I hadn't considered whether I could get 4 twos.   Reckon that you've rounded this up quite well.
