 Another Pattern of Numbers (Posted on 2005-07-29)
In "A Pattern of Numbers" you were asked to find the relationship between numbers appearing in a pattern. This puzzle uses a similar, yet different, criterion.
Can you discover the relationship between the numbers and figure out what number belongs at the X in this pattern? The same rule applies to each set of numbers in the pattern.
```  34  32  36  46  64  75  50  35  34
16  18  14  22   X  40  35  15  20  12
```

 No error in question | Comment 4 of 17 |

Very good question into deceiving you to think that there's an error with 12 having to be 14 but I have come up with a solution that works:

AB
CD       E

AxB + CxD = E

3x4 + 1x6 = 18
3x2 + 1x8 = 14
3x6 + 1x4 = 22
7x5 + 4x0 = 35
5x0 + 3x5 = 15
3x5 + 1x5 = 20
3x4 + 2x0 = 12

X = 4x6 + 2x2 = 28

2x8 + 6x4 = 40
