Each number in the sequence is the sum of the term number and the number of letters in the spelt out version of the number.

+3(one)=4
+3(two)=5
+5(three)=8
+4(four)=8
+4(five)=9
+3(six)=9
+5(seven)=12
+5(eight)=13
+4(nine)=13
+3(ten)=13

Next two:
+6(eleven)=17
+6(twelve)=18
