Kings and Queens (Posted on 2003-01-30) Difficulty: 3 of 5
From a standard pack of cards, I remove four cards, one of each suit, and one of each of he ranks Jack, Queen, King and Ace. I lay them out in a line face downwards. Now, you have been given the following facts:

(a) The Heart isn’t next to the Club.

(b) No card is next to its immediate senior in rank.

(c) The colors of the suits alternate.

(d) The king and Queen are facing opposite directions.

Identify the four cards and their correct order.

Solution re: more than one solution! BOOOO! Wait though. Am I wrong? | Comment 11 of 15 |
(In reply to more than one solution! BOOOO! by jduval)

If I look at a deck in Microsucks freecell the KC and QH face the same direction ==> they would not be possible solutions as I stated in my previous post.  But the KH and QC face opposite directions.  If face up they are looking at each other, face down they would be looking away.  Therefore (if I define "facing opposite directions" as "facing away from each other from their own perspective"

KH, JS, AD, QC is the unique solution.

I am not sure if this is the intended solution, but in my opinion this would be a better solution.
