Shorten and halve (Posted on 2005-09-21) Difficulty: 2 of 5
A six letter word, that when you take out its last letter, becomes half of its meaning. What word is it?

Some Thoughts half it's meaning | Comment 9 of 33 |

Perhaps the word "triplet" which would become the word "triple". While this could still refer to the person who looks like two other people it would lose half the meaning of "triplet" because now it no longer holds the familial relationship and only describes the physical relationship...thereby reducing the meaning by half.

Probably not the solution we're looking for, but it's possible that it leads in the right direction. :)
