Where did the exra square in shape "B" come from?

The upper surface of the triangle is formed by two triangle. Simply looking at it, you might think that the two triangles are the same proportions, with one being merely larger than the other.

However, closer examination shows that to be false. Thus, as the gradients are different, it can be seen that the top triangle flexes outwards somewhat, whereas he bottom triangle flexes inwards.
