Now, looking at the sting of numbers lying between every occurance of the pair (6,9), we obtain the following numbers:

Replacing the numbers with the corresponding position in the alphabet, we obtain:
t,w,e,n,t,y,t,h,r,e,e
Obviating the commas and with due punctuations, we now observe that
the sought for secret word is:
"twenty three".
Consequently, the required age of the author is 23.
